Specially formulated to give longer lasting protection to exterior woodwork, Dulux Trade Weathershield Exterior Flexible Undercoat is part 2 of a 3 part weather-resistant and flexible paint system. Ideal for use on exterior woodwork, primed metal or plastic. Prime all bare wood with 1 coat of , including any new or bare replacement beading. Tinted Colour Information
Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Dulux tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.Area | Exterior |

Preparation
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. New surfaces particularly must be fully dry.
- Remove all loose and defective coatings, if necessary stripping back to bare wood. Pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal may contain harmful lead, so special precautions must be taken.
- Remove and treat any mould, algae, lichen or moss with .
- Remove defective glazing material, clean the rebates and any loose or open joints. Replace any rotten wood and knots with new timber.
- Thoroughly rub down all surfaces to remove any grey, weathered wood and surface sheen from remaining coatings, and then dust off (refer to your COSHH Assessment). Do not inhale dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
- Apply 1 or 2 coats of an appropriate knotting solution to any remaining knots in the wood.
- Prime all bare wood with 1 coat of , including any new or bare replacement beading. Excess primer should be wiped off surrounding paintwork.
- Prime any bare metal with 1 coat of .
Application
Always follow the manufacturers instructions found on the tin, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility.
- Stir thoroughly before use. Apply 2 coats of in the appropriate colour for the job to all primed wood.
- Followed by 1 coat of Weathershield Exterior High Gloss.
- Apply with a brush only. For health and safety reasons relating to solvent based paints, do not spray.
Where a special process colour is to be used, or where there is a.strong colour change, more coats will be needed. When painting resinous wood or woodwork with a history of blistering, it is best use only light colours, especially on south facing elevations. To get the most benefits from this system, use as directed on good quality timber that conforms to BS EN 942: 1996, in conjunction with good component design.
