Overview
Dulux Trade Weathershield Stabilising Primer is a solvent based masonry primer specifically formulated to seal unstable areas of masonry that are still powdery and chalky after the surface has been thoroughly prepared for painting.
Use it to seal powdery and chalky masonry surfaces only. This product should not be used as a general purpose sealer on normal or sound surfaces. New or sound bare surfaces should only be sealed with a thinned first coat of the masonry paint itself.

Preparation
For best results, make sure that surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry.
- All surfaces should be thoroughly scraped and brushed to remove any loose or flaking paint and dirt. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre- 1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
- Carefully remove any organic growth or mould from the masonry, scraping and brushing again using a fibre brush. A stiff fibre brush will give better results than a wire brush, as any wire that becomes embedded in the wall will rust, and stain the new paint.
- The area should then be treated with .
- Make good any surface imperfections using an appropriate filler. Larger holes and cracks should be filled with a sand and cement mix.

We always recommend performing a test patch on a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
